Novel alkaline membrane water electrolyser system for the production of green hydrogen
Celectis is developing a novel alkaline electrolyser (AEM) system to make hydrogen gas from pure water. This will be electrochemically compressed to provide hydrogen for energy storage applications such as hydrogen filling stations for vehicles. The innovative design will use 3D printing methods and novel membrane technology to allow the conversion of pure water to pure hydrogen (and oxygen) and at the same time allow for direct electrochemical compression and also to simultaneously avoid the main problem of conventional systems with gas crossover that can lead to hazardous gas compositions being formed.
